First, I want to thank the many teachers who recently shared stories with me.
The words of my friend and kindergarten colleague Celeste Starr keep echoing in my mind as I think about how much we all miss finishing the school year with our children: “My heart is wrinkled in sadness.” Our hearts are also heavy as we ponder the racial and economic injustice in our country. In light of these transformative times, I revisited my philosophy and vision. I remain committed to honoring ALL learners.
